About
I have been making furniture and cabinets since 1998. I grew up in Chicago and received a BA in Studio Art from Lawrence University, and have lived in Madison, Wisconsin and Chicago before moving to Portland, Oregon where I now live and work.
Much of my work as a furniture maker highlights the beauty and history of reclaimed materials in a modern and non-traditional way. My furniture pieces are often designed and built in reverse: I start with an especially interesting piece of salvaged wood which then, to a large extent, dictates the final design. My goal is not only to create a beautiful piece of furniture, but also to celebrate the history and utility of the materials that it is made.
